I arrived home from the office at 1:30 just in time to catch the UPS delivery. After opening the expertly packed box, I took out my new violin, tuned it, rosined my new Grimaux bow, and spent the next two hours playing. After a quick break for late lunch, I resumed playing and just now needed to stop to write to you. The lower string sonority is a joy (as you promised) and the upper strings have a nice brilliant sound to them as well. The overall tone is warm and rich, and the instrument has excellent carrying power. It's a real pleasure to play. My new bow is also great. It has nice feel and responds very well (I used it on my "old" instrument and was very pleased!). The Gliga violin itself is just beautiful, the workmanship is flawless and would surely delight any connoisseur of art (even non-players!). Although, everyone of course enjoys playing our "older" instruments, there is something quite pleasurable in playing a new one. The new violin is just waking up and happy to respond and grow with me. I am looking forward to many happy hours with this instrument and will let you know from time to time how we are doing. My new Gliga Maestro is just wonderful (as is my new Grimaux bow) and I'm enjoying them immensely! Thanks for everything, Russell Gon P.S. Thanks to Cami for her help too.
